Der Königssee ist ein Gebirgssee in der Gemeinde Schönau am Königssee im Landkreis Berchtesgadener Land. Eingebettet zwischen den steilen Berghängen von Watzmann und Hagengebirge hat der langgestreckte See zusammen mit dem südöstlich vorgelagerten kleineren Obersee – um den das Steinerne Meer den Talabschluss bildet – einen fjordartigen Charakter. Er gehört zu den saubersten Seen Deutschlands.
